Blood Flow Journey-Relaxation Audio:
Reflection:
I listened to the audio tape: "A Time To Relax"
I listen to the audio tape. It was hard for me to get in the mood to relax because I have been doing homework all day. I am very tense and my head and my back really hurts. As I listened to the tape I could not get my mind to cooperate. I kept thinking about taking notes rather than relaxing. I will listen to the tape again after doing other things to relax such as showering, sitting still with my eyes closed concentrating on nothing. I agree with the facilitator of the tape when he said,"We have the ability to began to make any part of your body feel comfortable by just thinking (thinkfulness). The mechanisms behind this technique involves the flow of the blood from the bodies core which is the abdominal area. The abdominal area holds 80% of our blood and the extremities hold the remaining 20%. According to the video utilizing some of this 80% of blood to areas we want to make feel comfortable is part of the relaxation process." Much of our tension and stress is felt in our hands, arms, and legs. In the tape it was demonstrated how to relax these areas by increasing the blood flow, saturating the area like a sponge, making them hot and heavy. Once muscles reach this state they start to relax. I feel it takes time and commitment before this process can be achieved, at least in my case.
